Note: Letter from Maximilian while he was in Bethlehem, Pa., dated 14 Sept., 1832. Mentions that on the mountains of Pennsylvania pinus strobus, rigida and canadensis were to be seen. Also seen on the banks of the Lehigh or Lechu river, quercus juglans wild chestnut, kalmia latifolia, rhododendrum maximum. Says that quercus ferruginea, found in New Jersey had been ommitted by Michaux from his list of oak trees.
