Note: Swartz failed to annotate the specimens which he treated in his Synopsis Filicum. As he left the greater part of his West-Indian plants to Prof. Thunberg, together with sundry annotations, it may be possible to supplement the information lacking in the Bergianska Herbarium by consulting Thunberg's collection. Swartz especially neglected to bring up to date the species of Selaginella. Swartz described at least six species of Lycopodium, for which no type-specimens can be found in his own herbarium, certainly not in his own handwriting: L. albidum, javanicum, acerosum, curvatum, taxifolium, and L. dichotomum Jacq.
