It was the intention of the Fruit Committee of the H.S. to rationalize the classification of peaches and nectarines, many varieties having the different names given by nurserymen. At the end of the article is a list of desiderata to be supplied by gardeners and nurserymen as e.g.:
Tree - description of it
Bud - colour, size, shape and external appearance.
Blossom - size & colour, if early flowering or late, etc.
