Note: "Populus tremula L. has attained great size because of popular misconceptions as to its durability. Although it is as resistant to decay as some harder woods, it has not been cut for lumber. It should be cut, however, as allowing it to grow is detrimental to its younger neighbors belonging to more valued species."
