Note: Dr. John White, "the first surgeon of the new colony established at Port Jackson." Of the several excerpts published in the journal, this is the only containing some botanical observations on plants growing in the area. Specifically, a "creeping vine," which is used as a substitute for tea and also has antipectoral properties, and a shrub with berries reminiscent of currants or gooseberries and useful as an antiscorbutic, are mentioned.
