| Notes: | Of the 34 plant pictures in Hortus cliffortianus, 5 have no identification of the artist's name. 20 have been drawn by G. D. Ehret (1708-1770) and engraved by Jan Wandelaar, and in 3 his name is given only as that of the engraver. It is quite probable that the 5 unidentified illustrations were also engraved by him. In adddition, he designed and engraved an elaborate frontice-piece. Finally the vignette on the title page was done by Adolf van der Laan (1684-1740). "C" form in biog. file. |
