| Notes: | Economic uses of 'Agropyron repens' (L.) P. B., called by Linnaeus 'Triticum repens', are described. It has been used not only as fodder for cattle but also, by way of pulverized rhizomes, as a substitute for flour in years of famine. It is included by Linnaeus among plants to be so used, in a pamphlet published at government expense in 1757, which was a year of poor crops. "C" form in biog. file. |
