Notes: Forrest, George; 1873-1932; born Falkirk nr. Glasgow; died Tenyueh, Yun-nan; spent part of his youth in Australia and S. Africa; 1904 employed by A. K. Bulley; 1904-06 travelled S. W. China and Tibet for B.; on this journey F. collected 30,000 plants, including very many new ones, and a number of mammals and birds. Afterwards he made 6 more tours to Tibet, partley for B., partly for the Edinb. bot. garden. He was an excellent collector. 'Abies georgii' Hand.-Mazz., and many Tibet- and China plants with the term 'forestii', are named for him.
