Notes: Macklot, H. Chr.; 1799-1832; born Frankfort a/M, died Purwakarta, Java; physician and anatomist; at first employed at Leiden Nat. Hist. Mus., Netherlands; 1823 member Nat. Hist. Comm. for Dutch East-Indies; arrived there only 1826; merited well of zool. investigation of W.Java, New Guinea, and Timor; was praised as a skilful and very industrious man. 1831 he climbed Mt. Salak. All of his coll. were lost by fire in the Chinese rebellion on May 1832 in Purwakarta; some days afterwards he was murdered by lance-cuts, by insurgents. Macklottia Korth., Loranthus macklottianus Korth. = Phoenicanthemum macklottianum miq., and Manglietia macklottii Korth., were named for him.
