| Notes: | 1820 appointed Member of Nat.Hist.Comm. for Dutch East-Indies; with J.C. van Hasselt to Buitenzorg, 1820, from where they investigated W.Java and made rich Coll.; within 9 months of his arrival Kuhl died from liver trouble; buried in Buitenzorg where a small memorial was erected for him and van Hasselt (d. 1923). Kuhlasseltia J.J.S. was named for them both; Kuhlia Reinw. and plants with the epithet kuhlianus or kuhlii were named for Kuhl. |
