Dr. Bell, a botanist, is seventh from left on upper stairs.
Dr. Richard Reis(to right of Walter Hodge) was the deputy. Ericka Reis, his wife, is at his right.
M. Miyahara (far right at rear with dark hair) was the NSF office interpreter.
Dr. M. W. Schein was leader of US delegation.
Dr. Yosito Sinoto (botanist) was leader of Japan delegation and host of conference.
